Arrest of Suspected Spy

In light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat has apprehended a suspected Pakistani spy named Sahdev Singh Gohil at the Kutch border.

Sources indicate that Gohil, who worked as a health worker, was taken into custody for allegedly engaging in espionage activities on behalf of Pakistan. His arrest followed the discovery of his communications with a Pakistani agent known as Aditi Bhardwaj.

Investigations by the ATS have uncovered that Gohil was consistently leaking critical and sensitive information regarding Indian border regions, which included details pertinent to the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Navy. He reportedly transmitted extensive information, including photographs of military installations, posing a significant threat to national security. Additionally, it has been reported that Gohil was regularly sending information about various locations in Gujarat to his contacts in Pakistan.

Authorities have disclosed that Gohil was involved in what is termed 'contractual espionage' for Pakistan, with indications that he received payments up to ₹40,000 for each instance of sharing classified information. The ATS has forwarded Gohil's mobile device to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for a comprehensive analysis, aiming to uncover more evidence and identify additional contacts.

Initial findings suggest that Gohil had been in communication with the Pakistani agent, Aditi Bhardwaj, through WhatsApp since June or July 2023. More recently, in January 2025, he obtained an Indian SIM card using his Aadhar card, which was activated in February 2025 by the Pakistani agent via WhatsApp OTP. This enabled him to conduct direct WhatsApp calls and messages for secretive communication, allowing him to maintain covert contact and relay sensitive information to his handlers across the border.
