Gujarat ATS Arrests Two for Alleged Anti-National Activities
Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad Takes Action
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has apprehended two individuals suspected of plotting anti-national activities and attempting to incite radicalization through social media. According to the ATS, the suspects were allegedly planning to establish a terrorist network aimed at achieving 'Ghazwa-e-Hind' (occupation of India). They reportedly intended to utilize RDX explosives, target political figures associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and recruit youth online to further their agenda. The ATS has stated that it is closely monitoring anti-national activities on social media and the internet using both technical and human intelligence.
Details on the Accused Involved in Jihadi Propaganda
During the investigation, specific information emerged about Irfan Kalekhan Pathan (22), a resident of Siddhpur in the Patan district. He is alleged to have been influenced by radical Islamic ideologies. Following this lead, ATS officials summoned Pathan for questioning. A press release indicated that an examination of his mobile phone revealed contacts with individuals and groups linked to ISIS and other radical entities via platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram. Initial investigations suggest that Pathan was actively involved in spreading jihadi propaganda and attempting to create a network of like-minded extremists across the country. The inquiry uncovered that he was a member of several social media groups and was in contact with individuals in Pakistan and Afghanistan who share similar radical beliefs. His primary objective appeared to be radicalizing others and inciting them to engage in anti-national activities by procuring weapons.
ATS Alleges Conspiracy to Wage War Against India
The ATS has accused Pathan of conspiring with associates to wage war against the Indian government and establish 'Ghazwa-e-Hind.' According to the ATS, he allegedly planned to recruit 'mujahideen' from various states, train them in the use of firearms and explosives, including RDX bombs, and organize camps for such activities.
