Five Arrested in Connection with Terror Module

On Thursday, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) apprehended five individuals as part of an investigation into a terrorist module associated with the Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Authorities confirmed the arrests.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Bilal Abidbhai Shera, Mohammad Ayub Kadiwala, Mohammad Palanpuri alias Khali Ayub Sunsara, Shafia Rais Mukhti, and Mohammad Hasan Kardiya.

Details of the Arrests

According to officials, these five suspects were captured in Khadiyal village, located in the Siddhpur taluka of Patan district. The names of the detained individuals are as follows:

Revelations During Interrogation

ATS officials revealed that on July 3, eight alleged members of Jaish-e-Mohammed were arrested from various locations in Gujarat and neighboring Madhya Pradesh. According to police, these individuals were attempting to establish an active terrorist network in Gujarat. During rigorous questioning, they disclosed the names of these five additional suspects, leading to their subsequent arrests by the ATS.

Judicial Proceedings and Remand

Following their arrest, the five suspects were presented before Judicial Magistrate R. M. Bhatia in Mehsana district. Public Prosecutor P. R. Dantani stated that the ATS sought custody of the suspects for further interrogation. After hearing the arguments, the court remanded all five suspects to ATS custody until July 24.

Alarming Plot Uncovered

The ATS provided shocking information to the court, indicating that one of the suspects had attempted to create a 'time bomb.' The investigation agency believes that materials for bomb-making and inflammatory Urdu literature linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed are yet to be recovered. During the remand period, the ATS aims to interrogate these terrorists to gather crucial insights about their sinister plans and their leaders.
