Government Takes Action Following Roof Collapse at Alwar Hospital

A roof collapse at the Rajkiya Satellite Hospital in Alwar prompted immediate action from the state government. Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore has prioritized the safety of patients and staff, directing regular assessments of hospital buildings. The incident, which resulted in minor injuries to a doctor and a patient, highlights ongoing concerns about the hospital's structural integrity. The government is committed to ensuring necessary repairs are made promptly to prevent future incidents.
 

Immediate Response to Hospital Incident


In Jaipur, the state government has reacted promptly to a roof collapse incident at the Rajkiya Satellite Hospital located in Kala Kuan, Alwar. Gayatri Rathore, the Principal Secretary of Medical and Health, has taken swift action by requesting a factual report from the Alwar District Collector. Additionally, she has communicated with the Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Works Department regarding necessary repairs and actions against those responsible.


Rathore emphasized that the safety of patients and healthcare workers is of utmost importance. She instructed that all government hospitals in the state undergo regular assessments of their buildings, ensuring that any required repairs or structural improvements are carried out in a timely manner with coordination from relevant departments.


According to initial reports, the hospital building was constructed in phases between 1990 and 2023 through donations and other means. The older sections of the building had been in need of repairs for an extended period. The medical department had previously sent multiple letters to the Public Works Department regarding the dilapidated condition of the building.


The Chief Medical Officer of the Rajkiya Satellite Hospital in Kala Kuan had sent repair requests to the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department in Alwar on several occasions, including August 4, 2025, August 25, 2025, September 4, 2025, February 24, 2026, May 18, 2026, June 8, 2026, and June 29, 2026. The medical department had also ensured that the necessary funds for repairs were allocated.


In the incident, a doctor and a female patient sustained minor injuries. Both received immediate first aid and are reported to be in stable condition.
