Vaishnaw explained that this initiative merges two existing programs: one that provides assistance for the transportation of food grains within states under the National Food Security Act, and another that focuses on technology-based improvements in the PDS. Direct Benefits to Millions

The government claims that this scheme will directly benefit around 813.5 million individuals across the nation. Financial support will be provided to states and union territories for food transportation, storage, and the operation of fair price shops. Additionally, improvements in the commission for ration shop owners will strengthen the distribution system, which is set to remain in effect until March 31, 2031.

Emphasis on Modern Technology

Vaishnaw emphasized the government's commitment to modernizing the PDS through advanced technologies. This includes the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, and blockchain.
