Government's Response to Student Protests
On Monday, the central government suggested a potential resolution to the ongoing deadlock in Parliament concerning student protests. Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, stated that Home Minister Amit Shah is prepared to address the concerns raised by the opposition, including the police action against protesters on July 20. However, Rijiju urged the opposition to allow parliamentary proceedings to continue if they wish for the Home Minister to respond.

During the session, which resumed at 2 PM after two adjournments due to uproar from opposition members, including Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), Rijiju made these remarks in response to demands for Home Minister Shah to address the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the police's actions against protesting students.
Rijiju emphasized that the government is open to discussing the students' issues and that Home Minister Amit Shah is ready to provide a detailed response. He criticized the opposition, urging them not to fear or evade the Home Minister's answers, stating that they must listen to the full response. He also mentioned that this willingness for detailed discussion was conveyed in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting.

Throughout this period, opposition members continued to shout slogans in the house. Since the start of the monsoon session, the opposition has been adamant about demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding police actions against protesting students in Delhi. This and other issues have repeatedly disrupted proceedings in both houses. In response to accusations regarding Shah's absence from the house, the government previously stated that the Home Minister is present in Parliament throughout the day. The presiding chairman, Jagdambika Pal, approached the protesting opposition MPs, reminding them that they were demanding the Home Minister's response, and now that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister has assured that Shah is willing to discuss, they should allow the proceedings to continue.
