As temperatures rise, air conditioners and coolers are operating at full capacity, leading to unprecedented electricity consumption. Sufficient Coal Reserves in Thermal Plants

In response, the central government has instructed all states to prepare 'Heat Stroke Management Units' and ambulances in hospitals. Experts predict that as temperatures rise in May and June, the use of cooling devices will increase, potentially pushing electricity demand close to 270 gigawatts. The government appears confident in tackling this significant challenge. The Ministry of Power has stated that during the fiscal year 2026, production capacity has been increased by approximately 65 gigawatts. With this robust infrastructure, the system is fully prepared to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the public and industries during this challenging summer.
