Goa Launches New Property Registration Facility for Citizens

Introduction of a New Registration Service in Goa

On August 7, the Goa government unveiled a new initiative allowing residents to register property-related documents at any sub-registrar office within their district. This service, part of the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS), makes Goa the third state in the country to implement the 'registration anywhere within the district' feature. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance accessibility to registration services and reduce waiting times for citizens.

Government Commitment to Transparency and Efficiency

Goa comprises two districts: South Goa and North Goa. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated this initiative on July 29, emphasizing that it reflects the government's dedication to transparent, effective, and technology-driven governance. He assured that the state government will continue to enhance the digital infrastructure at sub-registrar offices to improve public services.

Response to Increasing Registration Demands

District Registrar (South) Suraj Vernekar mentioned that this new facility was introduced in response to the rising number of property registrations, particularly in coastal areas, which had put significant pressure on the sub-registrar offices in Bardez, Salcete, and Tiswadi.
