Deportation of Illegal Immigrants in Goa

Goa, Feb 26: In an ongoing effort to combat illegal immigration and breaches of immigration regulations, officials have deported six Bangladeshi nationals who were residing in Goa without proper travel or immigration documentation, as confirmed by authorities on Thursday.

The deportation took place on Wednesday, facilitated by a collaborative operation involving the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Goa and the Border Security Force (BSF).

Officials reported that the entire procedure adhered to established protocols. A team from FRRO Goa escorted the six individuals to the BSF, which then carried out their deportation to Bangladesh.

Since 2025, the Foreigners Branch of Goa Police has identified and assisted in the deportation of 35 illegal Bangladeshi nationals, comprising nine males, seven females, and 19 minors.

Goa Police emphasized their commitment to addressing illegal entries and overstays in collaboration with the FRRO and other pertinent agencies. They have encouraged the public to verify the documentation of tenants and workers and to report any suspicious activities to local police or the Foreigners Branch.

In a related development, Bengaluru Police initiated a significant operation across the city, questioning over 2,000 foreigners and detaining numerous suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants for verification. This follows a previous operation in January, which resulted in the arrest of 26 individuals in areas like Electronic City and Hebbagodi.

Additionally, a similar anti-infiltration initiative was executed in Mumbai, Maharashtra, where the Versova Police apprehended 25 Bangladeshi nationals, including 21 transgender individuals, two women, and two men, from the Yari Road vicinity. They were discovered living without valid documentation near Shakulshaha Dargah.

Authorities noted that from January 1 to February 20, Mumbai Police detained 113 Bangladeshi nationals, with 27 already deported.
