Ghaziabad Schools Adjust Timings Amid Heatwave

In light of soaring temperatures, Ghaziabad has revised school hours to safeguard children from the intense midday heat. The new schedule, effective immediately, sees classes running from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. As temperatures reached 42 degrees Celsius, the meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for potential thunderstorms and strong winds in the coming days. With Banda district recording a staggering 47.6 degrees, residents are advised to stay indoors. Change in School Hours Due to Heat

In response to the rising temperatures, the Ghaziabad administration has modified the operating hours for all public and private schools. Classes will now be held from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This new schedule is effective immediately. Officials stated that this decision aims to protect children from the harsh midday sun and heatwave conditions. Parents have expressed their approval of this change, as they were already concerned about their children's health and had been advocating for a shift in school timings.


Temperature Hits 42 Degrees

On Monday, Ghaziabad experienced extreme heat, with temperatures soaring to 42 degrees Celsius. Fortunately, strong winds during the night provided some relief to residents. According to the meteorological department, thunderstorms and heavy winds are expected in Ghaziabad on Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting a 'yellow alert.' A slight decrease in temperature is also anticipated, which may alleviate the heat.


Severe Heat Across Uttar Pradesh

The entire state of Uttar Pradesh is facing intense heat. Banda district recorded the highest temperature on Monday, reaching 47.6 degrees Celsius, marking a record for the month. Other areas such as Agra, Prayagraj, and Hamirpur also reported temperatures exceeding 44 degrees. The extreme heat has led to a noticeable decline in people on the streets, with many opting to stay indoors.


Weather Alert for 27 Districts

The meteorological department has indicated that weather conditions may change today. Due to a western disturbance, thunderstorms and light rain are expected in 27 districts across the state. Additionally, strong winds at speeds of up to 50 km/h may occur in approximately 15 districts in western Uttar Pradesh.


Potential Rain and Winds in Specific Districts

Districts including Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bagpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur are likely to experience rain and strong winds.
