General Upendra Dwivedi Reviews NDA's 150th Course Passing Out Parade
General Dwivedi Highlights Military Action Against Terrorism
On Saturday, General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff, reviewed the passing out parade of the 150th course at the National Defence Academy (NDA). During his address to the cadets, he specifically referenced 'Operation Sindoor,' a military operation against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan scheduled for May 2025. He emphasized that this operation set a benchmark for expressing national will with precision and determination, defining India's robust response to provocations. The responsibility of maintaining this standard now rests on the shoulders of the young military officers.
While reviewing the parade at the NDA in Khadakwasla, General Dwivedi remarked that the cadets are entering a world that 'does not pause for introductions,' and today's threats do not always come from uniformed adversaries or declared fronts.
He stated, 'The current security landscape, ranging from disputed ambiguous areas to rapid hybrid warfare, demands that those serving the nation think critically when taking action.' He reiterated that 'Operation Sindoor' demonstrated how national will can be articulated with accuracy and resolve, defining how India responds to provocations. Maintaining that standard is now your responsibility.'
Unity and Service in the Armed Forces
General Dwivedi noted that the unified response seen in 'Operation Sindoor' was based on the kind of unity that the NDA has promoted from day one. He added, 'As our defense services strengthen their integrated framework, remember that regardless of the uniform we wear in the future, all of you—men and women—will serve shoulder to shoulder.'
Describing the occasion as 'emotionally and personally very special,' General Dwivedi recalled that he himself graduated from this very parade ground over 42 years ago. He expressed, 'Today, as I stand before you at the final stage of my military career, preparing to take off my uniform while you are about to don yours, I can confidently say that what you begin here will last forever.'
Recognition of Excellence and International Cadets
He praised the parade commander and cadets for their outstanding drill and extended special congratulations to the Cheetah Squadron for winning the banner. General Dwivedi also acknowledged the presence of 24 foreign cadets from 12 friendly nations who graduated with this course, stating, 'You have come from different countries, but you are leaving here influenced by the same land and shared values.'
