Meeting Highlights Youth Engagement in Indian Army
On Monday, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at his residence in Bhopal. The discussion focused on motivating young individuals to enlist in the Indian Army.
During the meeting, CM Yadav announced that the upcoming Army Day parade will take place in Bhopal, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expected to attend. He shared on social media, "Today, I had a meeting with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi at my residence in Bhopal. We discussed ways to inspire youth to join the Indian Armed Forces. A grand Army Day parade will be held in Bhopal on January 15 next year, featuring Defence Minister Rajnath Singh."
He further emphasized that the parade will strengthen the nation's appreciation for its rich military heritage and the valor of its soldiers. Yadav noted that a series of events will commence in Bhopal from January 9, including 'Shaurya Sandhya', a military exhibition, and military drills. Army Day, celebrated annually on January 15, commemorates the day in 1949 when General (later Field Marshal) K.M. Cariappa took command of the Indian Army from the last British Commander-in-Chief, General F.R.R. Butcher, marking the transition of military leadership to Indian hands.
This day symbolizes the transfer of military leadership to the Indian Army post-independence. The Army Day parade showcases the operational capabilities, discipline, and modern skills of the army, featuring parade contingents, military equipment displays, and demonstrations of combat readiness.
