Agarkar's role as the chairman of the BCCI's senior men's selection committee officially concluded on Tuesday, with the board now seeking applications for a vacant position on the panel. Having taken over in July 2023, Agarkar completed his term on October 4 and chose not to pursue an extension.
Agarkar's Legacy and Ojha's Appointment
During Agarkar's tenure from 2023 to 2026, the Indian men's cricket team secured three prestigious ICC trophies: the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2024, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, and another ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2026.
Pragyan Ojha, a former left-arm spinner for India, has been appointed as the interim chief selector. He led the selection meeting on Tuesday to finalize India's squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.
