Dhoni took to Instagram to congratulate the team and humorously compliment Gambhir, stating, "Your smile looks fantastic, and the intensity combined with it is a winning formula." India triumphed over New Zealand by 96 runs, successfully defending their T20 World Cup title. This victory marked a historic moment as India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil, the first to secure consecutive titles after their 2024 win, and the first to lift the trophy three times (2007, 2024, and 2026).

Dominance in Batting

In the final match, New Zealand opted to field first after winning the toss. However, Abhishek Sharma made a remarkable comeback, scoring 52 runs off just 21 balls, including six fours and three sixes, forming a crucial 98-run partnership with Samson. Ishan Kishan also contributed significantly with 54 runs off 25 balls, leading India to surpass the 200-run mark in the 16th over. Shivam Dube added valuable runs, finishing with 26 not out off eight balls, helping India reach a total of 255/5, the highest score in T20 World Cup finals.
