Gaurav Gogoi Criticizes Assam CM for Governance Failures and Corruption
Gogoi's Strong Accusations Against CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Gaurav Gogoi, the president of the Assam Congress, has launched a fierce attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of misgovernance and rampant corruption during his tenure. Gogoi stated that the voting rights of various groups, including tribals, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and minorities, are being systematically undermined. Speaking to reporters, he emphasized that the government aims to prevent those who voted against the BJP in the last elections from casting their votes again, highlighting their fear of losing power.
Failure to Deliver Justice in High-Profile Cases
Gogoi further alleged that Chief Minister Sarma has failed to ensure justice in the high-profile Jubeen Garg murder case. He criticized Sarma for making misleading statements, asserting that his words lack credibility. Gogoi pointed out the weak charge sheet presented in the Garg case, claiming that the names of those involved were omitted due to their close ties to the Chief Minister and his family. He asserted that the people of Assam are well aware of when the Chief Minister is being dishonest.
Community Engagement Event in Guwahati
As part of the 'Save Caste, Save Mind' campaign aimed at building a strong and united Assam, a significant participation event was held today at the Humanendra Sharma Complex in Guwahati, attended by Gaurav Gogoi. During this event, representatives from various community organizations formally joined the Congress party. Notable figures included prominent tribal leader Rukma Kumar Medok, former president of the All Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU) Rezaul Karim Sarkar, and several leaders and activists from the BJP, AGP, and UPP. Other significant members included BJP leader Manoj Kumar Mahanta and AGP youth wing secretary Kaushik Hazarika.
Remembering Former CM Tarun Gogoi
Reflecting on his late father and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Gaurav recalled how Tarun once transformed Assam's political landscape by questioning a communal leader with, "Who is he?" Today, he noted, the people of Assam are once again showing courage to question authority, asking, "Who is Himanta Biswa Sarma?" Gogoi accused the current government of creating an atmosphere of fear through fabricated narratives and warned that such politics of fear must be defeated. He stated, "We do not wish to live in a climate of fear. Peace returned to Assam during Tarun Gogoi's administration, and it is now our responsibility to restore peace and end the politics of fear and hatred."
