Fraudulent Baba Arrested for Conning People in Aurangabad
The Rise of a Con Artist
The desire for wealth is universal, with many seeking quick and easy ways to amass riches. In Aurangabad's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, a con artist known as Baba exploited this desire, claiming he could bring about a rain of money.
The situation came to light when Police Commissioner Praveen Pawar received a tip-off about suspicious individuals staying at a posh hotel near a petrol pump. These individuals were reportedly involved in superstitions and scams. The police promptly assigned their most trusted team to investigate the matter. Inspector Sambhaji Pawar, renowned for his quick wit and bravery, led his team to raid the hotel early in the morning.
The Discovery
Upon reaching room number 305, the police found a man named Vikas Uttarwar, who had been residing there since December 29, 2024. He claimed to be a tantric baba. Meanwhile, in room 412, his accomplices, Vilas Kohile and Shankar Kajale, were staying under a booking made in the name of a Pune resident. Vilas hailed from Jurud village in Vaijapur tehsil, while Shankar was from Chikalthana in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Together, they had devised a scheme that led people to lose both their dreams and hard-earned money.
The police search revealed a disturbing scene. The table was littered with counterfeit notes, small boxes of vermilion, dried roots, and coconuts. These items were part of rituals designed to deceive unsuspecting victims. Their enticing promise was simple: perform a ritual, and money would rain from the sky! This was the magical lure they used to attract their targets. A senior officer from the investigation team remarked, 'These fraudsters created an environment where people were easily persuaded to hand over their savings.'
Legal Action Taken
As the police interrogation unfolded, the shocking details of the scam deepened. Based on a complaint from Assistant Police Inspector Kashinath Mahadule, a case was registered against the trio under sections 318 and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. Additionally, actions were taken under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil, and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. The three were taken to the Kranti Chowk police station, where intensive questioning is currently underway.
