Former PM H.D. Deve Gowda Criticizes Trump's Economic Remarks

H.D. Deve Gowda, the former Prime Minister and leader of the JD(S), has expressed strong disapproval of U.S. President Donald Trump's recent remarks regarding a dead economy. In a statement, Gowda conveyed his astonishment at Trump's baseless and rude comments, labeling him as unstable, uncivilized, and irresponsible. He remarked that no leader in modern history has exhibited such instability. Gowda pointed out that Trump has mistreated not only India but also his allies and countries around the globe. He emphasized that even a small trader or a poor farmer in India, who conducts business with dignity, honesty, and humanity, could teach Trump valuable lessons.

The senior leader accused Trump of alienating not just India but numerous nations worldwide, including his long-standing allies. Gowda suggested that there is something fundamentally wrong with Trump, which cannot be resolved through diplomacy or governance skills. He praised the Modi government for not yielding to external pressures, stating, "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India has not compromised its national interests. It has stood firm against Trump's intimidation, demonstrating that it will not bow to threats."

Gowda also commended the government's efforts to protect the agricultural sector and small to medium-sized enterprises, which he described as the backbone of the Indian economy. He asserted that the firm stance taken by the Modi administration would lead to an unprecedented national revival. Targeting opposition leaders who support Trump's comments, Gowda warned them against aligning with "misguided spokespersons." He advised them to avoid harming themselves and their parties, cautioning that they should not end up in the dustbin of history alongside Trump.
