Former Military Officials Condemn Rahul Gandhi's Parliamentary Conduct
Criticism from Former Officials
A significant letter has been penned by 204 former military officers, retired judges, and senior government officials addressing Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. In this letter directed to the citizens, they have strongly criticized Gandhi's recent behavior in Parliament. SP Vaid, the former DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, stated that the letter, signed by 84 former bureaucrats, 116 ex-servicemen, and former lawyers, asserts that Gandhi's conduct is not befitting of someone in the position of Leader of the Opposition, a role that carries immense responsibility. His actions reflect a sense of arrogance and entitlement.
Concerns Over Parliamentary Conduct
Vaid further remarked that Gandhi engages in theatrics, often seen sipping tea while chanting slogans on the steps of Parliament. He expressed concern that Gandhi does not grasp the significance of his role as the opposition leader. The former officials urged him to recognize this and to apologize to the nation for his past actions. Despite Speaker Om Birla's appeals to maintain the dignity of the House, Gandhi appears oblivious, making himself a subject of ridicule. They emphasized the need for him to embody the qualities of a responsible opposition leader, advocating for humility over arrogance.
A Call for Responsibility
Vaid insisted that Gandhi must understand his responsibilities, as many people listen to him. The aspirations of the nation hinge on the discussions and laws formulated in Parliament. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi met with Ajay Malik, a member of the Central Reserve Police Force's Cobra Battalion, who was injured during an anti-Naxal operation. Gandhi expressed that speaking with Malik allowed him to appreciate his morale and spirit.
Meeting with CRPF Personnel
Gandhi visited Malik's residence in the RK Puram area and shared on Facebook, 'Today, I met Mr. Ajay Malik, Assistant Commandant of the Cobra Battalion, in RK Puram, New Delhi. He lost a leg due to a severe injury from an IED explosion during an anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand. Speaking with him, I felt his indomitable courage, unwavering spirit, and remarkable enthusiasm.' He concluded by saluting Malik's service and dedication to the country, wishing him a speedy recovery.
