Former AIADMK Minister Resigns from MLA Position Amid Party Turmoil

C. Vijaybhaskar, a former minister of the AIADMK, has resigned from his MLA position, submitting his letter to the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker. His resignation comes amid a backdrop of dissent within the party, as he was one of the leaders who supported the TVK government during a recent confidence vote. Vijaybhaskar criticized the current leadership style, emphasizing that true leadership should focus on unity and dedication rather than power and ego. His remarks raise questions about the future direction of the AIADMK and its internal dynamics.

C. Vijaybhaskar Steps Down as MLA

On Tuesday, C. Vijaybhaskar, a former minister of the AIADMK and a dissenting leader, submitted his resignation from his MLA position to the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, JCD Prabhakar. In a statement, Prabhakar confirmed that Vijaybhaskar had personally handwritten his resignation letter, which complied with the assembly's regulations, leading to its acceptance.

Vijaybhaskar was among the rebel AIADMK members who voted in favor of the TVK government.

Background of the Resignation

Previously serving as the health minister in the former AIADMK government, Vijaybhaskar represented the Viralimalai constituency in Pudukkottai. He was one of the dissenting leaders who supported the TVK government during the confidence vote held on May 13. Prior to his resignation, four other AIADMK legislators had also stepped down and subsequently joined the ruling TVK party. Before resigning, Vijaybhaskar subtly criticized AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami without naming him, stating that true leadership is not about power or ego, but about uniting everyone and working with complete dedication.

Leadership is Not Power or Ego, But Dedication to Unity: C. Vijaybhaskar

In a social media post, the former health minister expressed, "Leadership is neither a privilege nor arrogance; it is a commitment to bringing everyone together." He further remarked, "How can any leadership win the hearts of the people if it fails to win over its own workers who toil for the party? Is a meaningful journey possible in a place where emotions are not respected?"
