Arrests Made in Jaipur Building Demolition Case

Jaipur, August 8 - Authorities have apprehended five individuals in connection with the alleged misappropriation of valuable items discovered during the demolition of an old building. According to police reports released on Saturday, the seized valuables include silver ingots and gold urns. Officers from the Manak Chowk police station and the District Special Team (DST) have recovered two large silver ingots weighing a total of 66.400 kilograms from the suspects.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur North) Karan Sharma stated that a complaint was lodged at the Manak Chowk police station on July 15. The complaint indicated that during the demolition of an old structure on Vidyadhar Ka Rasta near Tripolia Bazaar, valuable items were not returned to the owner. Instead, contractor Mahesh Malhotra and his associates allegedly misappropriated them. The complaint detailed that the valuable items included 10-15 silver ingots weighing between 40-45 kilograms, 14-15 gold urns filled with coins, and 8,000-10,000 old silver coins, among other precious assets.

The police noted that the investigation posed challenges as the alleged incident occurred nearly ten months prior. By that time, the building had been demolished and a new structure erected, making it difficult to gather immediate evidence due to delays and the absence of CCTV footage. To address this, a special team was formed to confirm the allegations and identify the suspects.

During the investigation, the team utilized technical intelligence and information from informants. They examined the mobile call detail records of the suspects and monitored their activities in Jaipur and surrounding areas. The police reported that they kept a close watch on the suspects and investigated changes in their lifestyle and financial activities.

After verifying the information gathered during the investigation, the police arrested five individuals. The suspects have been identified as Mahesh Malhotra (the contractor), Jagdish Rajoria, Omprakash Kinchi, Anuj Arora, and Rajni Malhotra.
