Exciting Health and Sports Festival in the Capital

New Delhi is gearing up for an exciting celebration of health, sports, and community as the second edition of the Fit India Carnival kicks off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this Sunday. This event coincides with International Women's Day 2026 and will take place over three days, from March 8 to March 10. The carnival will be inaugurated following the 64th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium, which also honors International Women's Day.

Highlighting Women in Sports

This year's carnival will emphasize the contributions of women athletes, influencers, and fitness advocates, according to a statement from the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The event will be officially opened by Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs, alongside Secretary (Sports) Hari Ranjan Rao and other esteemed guests.

Celebrity Guests to Inspire Attendees

The inaugural day will see participation from notable figures, including actor and model Milind Soman, actress Ragini Dwivedi, and Aishwarya Raj, along with Tarun Khanna, all of whom have appeared in the TV series 'Devo ke Dev Mahadev'. Mental health expert Dr. Ririi Trivedi, along with various fitness professionals and athletes, will also be in attendance.

Athletes such as heptathlete and Asian Games bronze medalist Nandini Agasara, judoka Garima Chaudhary, chess grandmaster and Fit India champion Tania Sachdev, para-athlete Simran, and fencing athlete Taniksha Khatri will share their inspiring journeys with young participants.

An Inclusive Experience for All

This edition of the carnival is designed to be fully accessible for individuals with reduced mobility, including senior citizens. Fit India has collaborated with accessibility organizations like Svayam to ensure inclusivity for everyone.

Engaging Activities for Everyone

The carnival will feature cultural performances, flash mobs, and interactive discussions where athletes and fitness leaders will provide insights on health, discipline, and mental wellness. Attendees can explore various game zones, fitness stations, and activity stalls aimed at making exercise enjoyable for all ages. Participants will include school and college students, athletes, professionals from various sectors, and women from diverse backgrounds, along with a dedicated kids zone.

Daily musical performances by popular bands will also be part of the festivities, encouraging families and communities, especially the youth, to commit to at least half an hour of physical activity each day, in line with the motto 'Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz.'

Overview of the Fit India Carnival and Movement

The Fit India Carnival returns after a successful inaugural edition last year, uniting fitness enthusiasts, athletes, celebrities, and citizens in a festival that promotes active lifestyles. The previous edition was inaugurated by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya at the same venue.

This carnival will feature a wide array of fitness activities, wellness workshops, sports demonstrations, and community engagement initiatives aimed at encouraging individuals to incorporate fitness into their daily routines. With its blend of sports, entertainment, wellness, and public involvement, the second edition of the Fit India Carnival is set to transform the capital into a vibrant fitness hub over the next three days, reinforcing the belief that a healthier India starts with active citizens.

Initiated on August 29, 2019, the Fit India Movement seeks to inspire behavioral changes and motivate citizens to lead physically active lives. Programs like Sundays on Cycle have been pivotal in expanding this movement into a nationwide community-driven initiative, fostering a collective commitment to health and sustainability.
