Incident Overview

This morning, a significant fire broke out in an AC coach of the Rajdhani Express heading to Delhi in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred in the B-1 coach of train number 12431, which travels from Thiruvananthapuram to Hazrat Nizamuddin, located towards the rear of the train. The fire was reported between Luni Richha and Vikramgarh Alot stations.

Fortunately, no passengers or railway staff sustained injuries during this incident. Upon receiving news of the fire, railway personnel acted swiftly, ensuring that all passengers from the affected coach were safely evacuated from the train.


Immediate Response by Railway Authorities

Following the incident, the overhead electrical supply was promptly cut off. Railway officials and staff arrived quickly at the scene to begin extinguishing the flames. To prevent the fire from spreading, the affected B-1 coach was detached from the rest of the train. Consequently, train number 12955 was halted at Mahidpur Road station. The West Central Railway's Kota division is currently investigating the cause of the fire.


Official Statement and Current Situation

Saurabh Jain, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, stated, "At approximately 5:15 AM, we received reports of a fire in the rear section and B-1 coach of the Rajdhani Express traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Nizamuddin. Our staff acted promptly to evacuate all passengers safely and separated the coach from the train. Fire brigade teams, state administration, and railway officials are on-site, with three fire brigade vehicles and ambulances present, and the fire has been nearly fully controlled."

Jain further mentioned that additional coaches are being dispatched from Kota. The remaining part of the train is expected to resume its journey within 30 to 45 minutes, after which repairs to the railway track will commence. This incident has disrupted the operations of approximately 5 to 6 trains traveling in both directions.
