Fire Breaks Out in Busy Khidirpur Market, Kolkata
Fire Incident in Khidirpur Market
In the early hours of Monday, a fire erupted in a crowded market located in Khidirpur, southwest Kolkata. Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties or reports of missing individuals.
Sujit Bose, the state's Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, stated that the fire has been brought under control, although some areas are still experiencing flames. He mentioned that at least 20 fire engines were dispatched to manage the situation.
Bose explained that due to the densely populated nature of the decades-old Khidirpur market, firefighters initially faced challenges in extinguishing the blaze. He added that fire crews are currently conducting cooling operations in the affected area, and several shops have been completely destroyed.
