FIR Filed Against Former MLA Hoshyar Singh Chambyal for Alleged Fund Misappropriation

Investigation Launched into Allegations of Misuse of Government Funds

The Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has initiated a First Information Report (FIR) against Hoshyar Singh Chambyal, a former MLA and BJP member, due to allegations of misappropriating government funds allocated under the MLA Discretionary Fund Scheme.

The FIR was filed at the Vigilance Police Station in Dharamshala after a preliminary investigation indicated potential irregularities in the allocation and use of funds approved for the years 2023 and 2024.

Officials stated that the inquiry was prompted by complaints from employees linked to a company associated with Chambyal. Investigators conducted interviews with the complainants, gathered statements from beneficiaries, reviewed official documents, and analyzed bank transactions related to the sanctioned funds.

The Bureau claimed that financial aid was granted to various beneficiaries under the discretionary fund scheme. However, some beneficiaries reportedly asserted during the investigation that they had not applied for such assistance.

Additionally, certain beneficiaries indicated that after the funds were deposited into their accounts, they withdrew the cash and handed it over as directed to Chambyal or his representatives.

Based on the evidence collected, including documents, beneficiary testimonies, and banking records, the Vigilance Bureau found initial evidence suggesting that public funds were misappropriated and not used for their intended purposes.

Consequently, a criminal case has been filed against Hoshyar Singh Chambyal under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal breach of trust and cheating. Officials noted that the investigation will also look into the involvement of any other individuals in the alleged misuse of public funds.

The Bureau highlighted that the investigation is still in its early stages, and further actions will be determined based on the evidence collected throughout the inquiry. The claims made in the FIR are yet to be resolved in a court of law.
