Arrest in Toddler's Murder Case

In Banda district, police from the Palani area apprehended a father on Saturday for allegedly murdering his one-and-a-half-year-old son and disposing of the body in a river. This information was confirmed by a police official.

Rajveer Singh Gaur, the police circle officer for Banda Sadar, reported that a woman residing at her maternal home in Pachakouri village filed a complaint on January 7. She claimed that her husband, Rajendra, took their son Kartik away on the night of January 5.

Based on this complaint, authorities detained Rajendra, 32, from the Dhanuhan Dera area of Fatehpur district for questioning. During the interrogation, he confessed to strangling Kartik and discarding the body in the Yamuna River.

The officer mentioned that efforts are underway to locate the body in the river, but strong currents have hindered progress. Rajendra was formally arrested on Saturday.

Police indicated that Rajendra has a history of alcohol abuse, which contributed to conflicts with his wife, Sharda, prompting her to stay at her parental home.
