Fatehpur Police Cracks Down on Illegal Mining: Nine Vehicles Seized

Major Action Against Illegal Mining in Fatehpur


In a significant move against illegal mining, the Nurpur Police launched a focused operation on July 7, 2026, resulting in the seizure of nine vehicles and heavy machinery. This initiative is part of a broader campaign to combat unlawful mining activities in the region.


During the first operation in the Rey Pattan area, authorities apprehended a Pokelane Excavator, a JCB, and five multi-axle trucks that were illegally mining. An FIR No. 72/2026 has been filed at the Fatehpur Police Station, citing violations under various sections of the BNS, the MMDR Act, and the Environment (Protection) Act against Sushil Kumar from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, among others. All seven vehicles and machinery have been confiscated, and investigations are ongoing.


In a subsequent operation in the Jakhara area, police intercepted a JCB and a tipper involved in illegal riverbed mining. Both vehicles were penalized under the Mining Act, confiscated, and the case has been forwarded to the Hon’ble JMFC Court in Jawali.
