Family Appeals for Help to Bring Injured Nurse Back to India from Saudi Arabia

A family from Telangana is urgently seeking help from the Chief Minister to repatriate their daughter, a nurse who suffered severe injuries in a road accident in Saudi Arabia. Facing a travel ban due to unresolved bank loans, Sunita is currently bedridden and unable to return home for necessary medical treatment. The family is grappling with financial difficulties, having lost their primary source of income. Urgent Plea for Assistance

Hyderabad, August 4 - Following a serious road accident in Saudi Arabia, the family of a nurse from Telangana has reached out to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for assistance in repatriating her to India. They claim that a travel ban has been imposed on her due to pending bank loans, preventing her from returning home. The 36-year-old Guguloth Sunita, hailing from Chivvemla Mandal in the Suryapet district, had her mother make an emotional appeal for help during the 'CM Pravasi Prajavani' on July 31.

Government Intervention Requested

Manda Bhima Reddy, vice-chairman of the Telangana government's NRI advisory committee, informed a news media outlet that an application regarding this matter has been submitted to the Chief Minister's office, requesting intervention. Sunita's mother, Guguloth Parengi, shared that her daughter, who once cared for critically ill patients, is now bedridden and reliant on others for her daily needs. Sunita had traveled to Saudi Arabia on September 7, 2024, with the aim of supporting her financially struggling family after completing her B.Sc. in Nursing.

Tragic Accident and Its Aftermath

Sunita began her role as a specialized nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at King Abdullah Hospital. Tragically, on April 23, 2025, she was severely injured in a horrific road accident, suffering serious injuries to both arms, her spine, and head, which necessitated multiple surgeries and the insertion of metal plates in her body. Subsequently, the Saudi medical board declared her 87% permanently disabled, rendering her medically unfit to work, leading to the loss of her job.

Financial Struggles and Travel Restrictions

Before the accident, Sunita had taken a loan of 148,000 Saudi Riyals (approximately 3.8 million rupees) from a bank to meet family needs. Although all medical documents related to the accident have been submitted to the bank, the loan dispute remains unresolved, resulting in Saudi authorities imposing a travel ban on her, preventing her from leaving the country. Her mother expressed that despite the urgent need for better medical care in India, Sunita remains trapped in Saudi Arabia.

Family's Dire Situation

According to the family, Sunita's salary has been halted since November 2025, leaving them without any source of income. They are unable to bear the costs of her medical, legal, and other expenses, facing a severe financial crisis. Sunita's mother stated, 'My daughter dedicated her life to saving countless patients. Today, I plead with the government to rescue my daughter and bring her home.' After receiving the application during the 'CM Pravasi Prajavani', Manda Bhima Reddy met with the family to provide necessary guidance.

Call for Immediate Action

Upon learning about Sunita's condition, G. Chinna Reddy, vice-chairman of the Telangana State Planning Board and in charge of 'CM Prajavani', forwarded the application to the Chief Minister's principal secretary, V. Sheshadri, requesting immediate intervention to bring Sunita back home and ensure she receives appropriate medical assistance. The family has appealed for urgent intervention from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Suryapet MLA G. Jagdish Reddy, and Nalgonda MP Kunduru Raghavendra Reddy.
