Fake Degree Leads to Five-Year Prison Sentence for Uttarakhand Teacher

Teacher Sentenced for Fraudulent Degree

In Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, Trilok Singh Kathait has been sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment for securing a teaching position using a forged B.Ed degree. Officials confirmed this information on Friday.


According to the authorities, an investigation by the education department and a special investigation team (SIT) revealed that Kathait's B.Ed degree was fraudulent during the verification process, prompting legal action against him.


On Thursday, Ashok Kumar Saini, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Rudraprayag, found Kathait guilty of obtaining employment through deceit and fraud based on the fake degree. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on him. The prosecution was represented by Pramod Chandra Arya on behalf of the state government.
