Thrilling Semifinals on the Horizon

Vadodara, Feb 26: The anticipation is building for an exhilarating conclusion to the Senior National Kabaddi Championship, hosted by the Gujarat State Kabaddi Association in Vadodara. With the semifinals set, the competition for the championship title is reaching a fever pitch.

Rishank Devadiga, a former captain of the Indian team, expressed confidence that the final four teams will showcase the strength displayed throughout the tournament. He noted, “This year's National Championships have featured remarkable performances. We've seen some unexpected outcomes, and the knockout rounds have proven to be quite unpredictable based on previous matches.”

The results thus far support his observations, as the pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals delivered thrilling outcomes. Tamil Nadu secured a spot in the quarterfinals by overcoming the formidable Haryana team in a tie-breaker, with both teams finishing the match at 35–35.

Following that, Uttar Pradesh pulled off a significant upset by defeating the reigning champions, Services, with a score of 55–51, propelling them into the semifinals. Arjun Deshwal, who also leads the Tamil Thalaivas in the Pro Kabaddi League, shone for Uttar Pradesh with an impressive 19 points.

Amidst these dominant performances and high-stakes finishes, Rishank emphasized that the semifinals will challenge both skill and composure. “The players' performances in the earlier rounds give us insight into their capabilities. Numerous coaches and scouts are present to observe the matches, identifying players worth watching. This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging talents,” he remarked.

The initial rounds have already seen margins of victory reaching 50 points, 59-point blowouts, 37-point routs, and thrilling one-point victories. If this trend continues, the semifinals on February 27 are set to be the most electrifying segment yet in Vadodara.
