Exciting Badminton Tournament Unites Officers in Assam

The Civil Services Officers’ Institute of Assam recently held its 9th Premier League badminton tournament, uniting serving and retired officers for two days of competitive play. With 81 matches across various categories, the event showcased the spirit of camaraderie among participants and their families. Notable winners included P S Themreikan in Men's Singles and Swetha Singh in Women's Singles. The tournament was inaugurated by a former Chief Secretary and concluded with a prize distribution ceremony led by the current Chief Secretary. This annual event aims to foster unity and cooperation among civil service officers.
 

Civil Services Officers’ Institute Hosts Premier League Badminton Tournament


Guwahati, March 2: The Civil Services Officers’ Institute of Assam (CSOIA) recently organized the 9th edition of its Premier League (CPL) badminton tournament at the Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC) campus, creating a vibrant atmosphere for both current and retired officers over two days of spirited competition.


This annual event attracted a large number of senior officials from various departments, along with their families, showcasing a strong sense of community.


A total of 81 matches were contested across several categories, including Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Singles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Children's Singles, and Men's Singles and Doubles for participants over 60 years of age.


The tournament was officially opened by Paban Kumar Borthakur, IAS (Retd.), a former Chief Secretary of Assam. The closing ceremony featured Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, who awarded prizes to the champions on Sunday.


Akashdeep, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their generous support on behalf of the organizing committee.


The event received sponsorship from the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited, and JBM Group.


The Civil Services Officers’ Institute, Assam, aims to enhance the welfare of civil service officers while promoting unity, integration, and collaboration among its members in both professional and social contexts.
