New explosions were reported in southern Iran close to the Strait of Hormuz following a weekend filled with attacks across the broader Middle East, raising concerns about the ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict that erupted on February 28. An Iranian news agency indicated that the source of the explosions remains unidentified. According to reports from local media and residents, loud blasts were heard on Monday afternoon near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island. The explosions seemed to originate from the western coast of Bandar Abbas, as per the Mehr news agency. This escalation occurs as the US and Iran approach the midpoint of a 60-day interim agreement intended to facilitate discussions for a lasting resolution to the war. However, the situation has deteriorated into a series of confrontations over the strait, alarming global leaders about the potential for a full-scale resumption of hostilities.

The recent cycle of retaliatory attacks was sparked by an assault on a container ship in the strait near Oman. Since the onset of the US-Israel-Iran conflict, shipping activities in the narrow entrance to the Persian Gulf have faced significant disruptions. The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces targeted numerous sites during strikes on Monday, which included air defense systems, radar installations, missile and drone assets, and small vessels. Additionally, missile alert sirens were activated three times in Bahrain, where the US Navy’s 5th Fleet is stationed, while Kuwait reported intercepting hostile fire.

We will continue to respond in this manner." He emphasized that Iran has honored its commitments under the memorandum, asserting, "No one can accuse the Islamic Republic of Iran of breaching its promises."
