Escalating Conflict: Over 787 Casualties in Iran Amid US-Israel Strikes
Casualties Rise in Iran Amid Ongoing Strikes
According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the death toll in Iran has reached at least 787 since the onset of attacks by the United States and Israel on Saturday.
Previously, the humanitarian organization reported a toll of 555 on Monday.
In just four days, over 1,000 strikes targeted more than 500 locations across 153 cities in Iran, as reported by the Iranian Red Crescent.
The conflict escalated on Saturday when Israel and the US initiated a military operation against Iran. In response, Tehran launched strikes on US military bases and Israeli targets, affecting major cities in neighboring Gulf countries. The situation intensified further with the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the attacks.
On Monday, the US and Israel intensified their military actions against Iran.
The US military announced on Tuesday that it had successfully targeted and destroyed key facilities of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including air defense systems and missile launch sites, although no evidence was provided to substantiate these claims.
Simultaneously, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed they were conducting coordinated strikes on military sites in Tehran and Beirut.
In retaliation, Iran and its allies targeted Israel and various locations in Gulf states.
Reports indicate that six US soldiers were killed in an Iranian missile strike on a military facility in Kuwait on Sunday. Initially, three deaths were reported, but the toll was updated after additional casualties were confirmed.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that a powerful weapon struck a fortified operations center after a missile bypassed air defenses during Iran's retaliation.
Currently, over 13,000 American troops are stationed in Kuwait.
In light of the escalating conflict, the Indian embassy in Tehran issued a new advisory for Indian nationals and students in Iran, urging them to remain indoors, avoid windows, and stay in contact with the embassy.

Israel Prepares for Extended Military Action
The Israeli military has reportedly prepared for a campaign against Iran that could last several weeks, although ground troop deployment is deemed unlikely, according to a military official.
Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani mentioned that the military has outlined a general scope for weeks, but the duration may vary based on developments.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that the conflict with Iran might take some time but would not extend for years.
Damage to Nuclear Facilities Confirmed
UN Confirms Damage to Natanz Nuclear Site
The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog confirmed on Tuesday that the entrance buildings at Iran’s Natanz uranium-enrichment facility were damaged during the recent strikes by Israel and the US.
The International Atomic Energy Agency stated that no radiological consequences were expected and that no further damage was detected within the underground Fuel Enrichment Plant, which had previously suffered significant damage during earlier conflicts.
Natanz is one of Iran's three known uranium-enrichment sites.
On Monday, Iran’s ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that the Natanz facility was hit during the attacks.
Overview of the Ongoing Conflict
Background of the Conflict
The joint operation by Israel and the US commenced on Saturday with the aim to degrade Iran's capabilities. Iran responded by asserting that the US-Israeli operation began while nuclear negotiations were ongoing.
The strikes occurred amid rising tensions over Iran’s nuclear program, with Israel claiming that Iran is closer than ever to acquiring a nuclear weapon, which could disrupt regional security. The US continues to act as a guarantor of Israel’s security.
Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes.
However, with fears of a potential attack and a significant US military presence off its coast, Tehran has been compelled to reopen discussions with Washington regarding its nuclear program.
Following Khamenei’s death on Sunday, Tehran vowed to retaliate and launched missiles at Israel and other Gulf nations, further escalating the already tense situation in the region.
