Intensifying Hostilities in the Middle East

Dubai, March 2: On Monday, Iran and its allied militias launched missile attacks against Israel and several Arab nations, while Israel and the United States retaliated by targeting sites within Iran, escalating the ongoing conflict with increasing casualties and defiant rhetoric from all parties involved.

According to reports, Israel and the US conducted airstrikes on Iranian missile facilities and naval assets. The US military confirmed that B-2 stealth bombers were deployed to hit ballistic missile sites with 2,000-pound bombs.

US President Donald Trump announced that military operations were proceeding at full capacity. In a video message, he stated, “Combat operations are ongoing at this moment in full force, and they will persist until all our objectives are met. We have very strong objectives,” without providing further details.

Trump also claimed via social media that nine Iranian warships had been destroyed and that the headquarters of the Iranian navy had suffered significant damage.

In response to the strikes that resulted in the deaths of at least five civilians, Gulf Arab nations warned of potential retaliation against Iran. Trump pledged that the US would seek retribution for the deaths of three American soldiers in Kuwait.

“Regrettably, there will likely be more casualties before this concludes. That’s the reality,” Trump remarked.

Britain, France, and Germany expressed their readiness to collaborate with the US to mitigate Iran’s aggressive actions, while a coalition of Gulf Arab states asserted their right to respond to Iranian assaults.

Trump also encouraged the Iranian populace to seek governmental change following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, indicating a willingness to engage in dialogue with new leadership.

As airstrikes by the US and Israel continued, senior Iranian official Ali Larijani stated on social media that Iran would not engage in negotiations with the US.

Iranian officials reported over 200 fatalities since the onset of the strikes, although independent verification of these figures was not immediately available.

In Iraq, a pro-Iranian militia took responsibility for a drone attack aimed at US forces at Baghdad airport, following a previous assault on a US base in Erbil. Additionally, Cyprus reported a drone targeting a British base on the island.

Hezbollah in Lebanon announced missile strikes into Israel early Monday, citing ongoing Israeli attacks and heightened regional tensions. This marked the group’s first such attack in over a year. Israel reported intercepting one missile, while others landed in uninhabited areas, with no immediate casualties reported.

Subsequently, Israel conducted airstrikes in Lebanon, resulting in at least 31 deaths and injuring 149 others, as per Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Nearly two-thirds of the fatalities were reported from southern Lebanon.

Following initial strikes on Beirut, Israel advised civilians in nearly 50 villages in eastern and southern Lebanon to evacuate in anticipation of further assaults.

This latest escalation represents the second significant joint offensive by the US and Israel against Iran in eight months, following a previous 12-day conflict that severely impacted Iran’s air defenses and military capabilities last year.

The passing of Khamenei, one of Iran’s most influential and enduring leaders, has created a leadership void in Tehran, raising concerns about potential further instability in the region.
