Tonumaya Biswakarma has been acknowledged for her significant impact on the dairy industry through her venture, Jashuda Dairy and Sweets, which provides milk and dairy products.
Demow, Oct 24: Tonumaya Sonar Biswakarma's entrepreneurial journey began in 2014 with a modest supply of milk, and has now evolved into a thriving dairy business that processes approximately 300 litres daily. Her efforts have earned her the prestigious Assam Gaurav Award as part of the 2025 State Civilian Awards.
Hailing from Nohat village near Demow in Assam's Sivasagar district, Tonumaya, known as a 'Lakhpati Baidew', has made a notable contribution to the dairy sector through her enterprise, Jashuda Dairy and Sweets. This venture not only supplies milk and various dairy products to local markets but also creates job opportunities.
Expressing her gratitude upon receiving the award, Tonumaya thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) for their unwavering support. She stated, “I am thrilled to be honored with the Assam Gaurav Award. My heartfelt thanks go to the Chief Minister and the ASRLM workers.”
Reflecting on her business journey, she noted the remarkable growth of her enterprise, which now manages between 200 to 300 litres of milk each day.

Jashuda Dairy and Sweets specializes in fresh milk and a variety of dairy products, such as curd, traditional Assamese doi, cream, paneer, and ghee. The products are distributed to local markets, establishing a strong presence in the area.
Her husband, Bipul Biswakarma, has been a steadfast supporter throughout her entrepreneurial journey. He expressed pride in her accomplishments, emphasizing her commitment to the business and its role in creating jobs.
“I am delighted that my wife has received this award. Her dedication has led to significant employment opportunities, and I will continue to support her endeavors,” Bipul remarked.
Tonumaya's recognition has sparked congratulatory messages from many in the community. State Cabinet Minister and local MLA Sushanta Borgohain also extended his congratulations, acknowledging her valuable contributions to the dairy sector.
