Enhancing Emergency Response: First Aid and CPR Training for Police and SDRF in Dharamshala

In Dharamshala, the Department of Health and Family Welfare has initiated a First Aid and CPR training program for police and SDRF personnel as part of Road Safety Month. With around 130 participants, the training focused on essential emergency response skills, including CPR and first aid techniques. Led by experienced medical professionals, the program aims to enhance preparedness among first responders. Certificates were awarded to all successful participants, and plans for future training sessions were announced to further promote road safety awareness. This initiative is a significant step towards improving emergency response capabilities in the region.

In celebration of Road Safety Month, the District Kangra's Department of Health and Family Welfare conducted a First Aid and CPR training session at the 2nd IRF Battalion, SCO. This initiative aims to bolster emergency response capabilities among frontline personnel.



  • Participation: Approximately 130 police officers and SDRF staff engaged in the training, which was organized into two sessions—morning and evening—to facilitate effective participation and practical experience.

  • Training Focus: Attendees received hands-on training in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid methods, choking management, and immediate actions during medical crises.

  • Certification: Upon successful completion, all participants were awarded certificates in First Aid and CPR.

  • Resource Persons: The training was led by Dr. Vivek (MD Anaesthesia) and Dr. Aksha (Pulmonary Medicine Specialist) from Zonal Hospital Dharamshala, along with Dr. Mahima from the CMO Office, Dharamshala. Coordination was managed by Deepak, the Training Coordinator for Road Safety.

  • Future Plans: CMO Kangra, Dr. Vivek Karol, announced intentions to organize additional training sessions during Road Safety Month to further promote road safety awareness and enhance emergency readiness among first responders.
