Increased Security for Pilgrims in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar, August 2: In anticipation of thousands of devotees participating in the water offerings on the first Monday of the Shravan month, security measures have been intensified at major Shiva temples in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. A police official provided this update on Sunday.

Abhishek Singh, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the Saharanpur region, stated that Anti-Romeo squads have been deployed at key temples to ensure the safety of female devotees.

He mentioned that separate queues have been arranged for women, and barricades have been set up to manage the expected crowd, along with the deployment of additional police personnel. With an increase in the number of Kanwar pilgrims bringing Ganga water from Haridwar, officials have bolstered security and crowd management measures throughout the district. These arrangements are part of the preparations for the annual Kanwar Yatra.

To facilitate the smooth movement of Kanwar pilgrims and ensure public safety, the district administration has ordered all schools and colleges in Muzaffarnagar to remain closed from August 3 to August 10. The Kanwar Yatra commenced on July 30 with the start of the Shravan month. Authorities have also instructed the closure of meat shops and restaurants along the Kanwar routes until August 12.

Additionally, a phased traffic alteration and strict monitoring system have been implemented across the district.
