Bengaluru, May 10: On Sunday, security measures were significantly increased in Bengaluru after authorities discovered two gelatin sticks on a roadside close to the route Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to take.

According to police reports, the explosives were located during standard security inspections near Tataguni, within the jurisdiction of the Kaggalipura police station.

“During the morning checks prior to the PM’s arrival, two gelatin sticks were found on the footpath, approximately 3 kilometers from the main event location where PM Modi was set to appear. An investigation is currently underway,” stated a police official.

Sources indicate that one individual has been taken into custody for questioning regarding this incident.

In response to the discovery, police, bomb disposal units, and forensic teams quickly arrived at the scene to assess the explosives and secure the area.

Security personnel promptly increased surveillance in the vicinity and surrounding neighborhoods.

Modi was in the area to attend a commemorative event at the Art of Living center near Kaggalipura.

Investigators are working to determine the reason for the gelatin sticks' presence in that location and whether additional individuals may be involved.

While no direct threat has been officially identified, the proximity of the explosives to the Prime Minister's route necessitated immediate action from security forces, who were already on high alert during his visit.

Gelatin sticks are typically used as industrial explosives in various applications, including mining, quarrying, road construction, and rock blasting.
