Robust Security Arrangements for Inauguration Ceremony

A comprehensive security plan is being implemented for the inauguration ceremony of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, scheduled for May 9 at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Approximately 4,000 police personnel will be deployed to ensure safety, as confirmed by a senior official.

Given the expected attendance of prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior BJP leaders, the expansive 900-acre venue will be divided into around 30 sectors for effective crowd management and security.

The official indicated that each sector will be monitored by officers at the level of Deputy Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner of Police. Additionally, if necessary, central armed police forces may also be deployed.

On Wednesday, senior officials from the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar convened a high-level meeting to finalize the security framework for the event, anticipating a large turnout.

To enhance security, door-frame metal detectors and handheld scanners will be installed at entry points, while the entire area will be under constant surveillance through CCTV cameras.

The official stated, 'We are making extensive arrangements to ensure that no prohibited or dangerous items are brought into the venue. Surveillance will also be conducted from the rooftops of nearby buildings.'

To prevent traffic congestion, the police have indicated that traffic restrictions may be enforced in the area on Saturday, along with possible route changes.
