New Safety Protocols for Ola Cabs

To bolster passenger safety within the state, Ola has introduced a new security system. Approximately 100,000 vehicles in the Ola fleet are now connected to the Abhay Command Center, enabling immediate assistance for passengers in emergencies. With this new feature, pressing the SOS button in the cab will send an alert directly to the command center, prompting a swift response from police and emergency teams.

Officials have noted that there have been numerous complaints from passengers, particularly women, feeling unsafe during their journeys. This initiative has been implemented to ensure that help is readily available in any threatening situation without delay.

Under the new system, all registered Ola vehicles will be equipped with a digital setup that transmits the vehicle's location to the Abhay Command Center via GPS. When a passenger activates the SOS button, the control room will receive an alert, and the nearest police unit will be dispatched to the scene.

According to officials at the Abhay Command Center, this system will operate around the clock, ensuring immediate responses to all alerts. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the safety of cab services in the city and to instill greater confidence among passengers.

The transport department has indicated that in the first phase, around 100,000 vehicles have been integrated into this system, with plans to include additional taxi and cab services in the future.

The government emphasizes that this measure is particularly aimed at ensuring the safety of women, children, and passengers traveling late at night, allowing for prompt police assistance when needed and preventing any unfortunate incidents.
