KANGRA: On December 22, 2025, a significant event took place in Himachal Pradesh as the second episode of the 'Udaan: Discover Your Direction' campaign was held. This initiative aims to assist young individuals in making informed career choices in a rapidly evolving job market.
The career counseling session was organized in collaboration with Arni University-Kangra at the Government Senior Secondary School located in Kasba Narwana, within the Dharamshala block of Kangra district.
This program emphasized the importance of career clarity, emerging opportunities, and skill-based planning, marking the launch of a new social outreach campaign following the successful 'TNR-Shining Star Awards' initiated in 2022.
IPS Officer Aditi Singh Inspires Students to Aim High
As the chief guest, IPS officer Aditi Singh, who serves as the Superintendent of Police, delivered an engaging and motivational session that resonated with the students.
She began with a thought-provoking question: “What is UPSC?” This inquiry prompted confident responses from students, showcasing their growing interest in civil services.
Aditi Singh elaborated on the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which conducts one of India's most esteemed national examinations. She noted that while many students apply each year, only a select few succeed, attributing this to clarity of purpose, discipline, and perseverance.
She discussed the motivations behind choosing UPSC as a career, emphasizing that beyond prestige, the true drive lies in serving the nation and society. Aditi highlighted the responsibilities of an IPS officer, which require integrity, courage, and compassion.
Offering advice for aspiring civil servants, she stressed the significance of early preparation, solid foundational knowledge, consistent reading habits, and self-discipline. Aditi encouraged students to embrace failure as part of their journey, urging them to believe in themselves and remain focused on their aspirations.
Her session concluded with a powerful message that success is not confined to a single career path; rather, excellence and integrity in any field can lead to a fulfilling and impactful life.
Dr. Neha Salaria Encourages Self-Belief
Dr. Neha Salaria, a counselor from Arni University, focused on fostering self-belief and confidence among students. She highlighted that each student possesses unique strengths and talents, and success begins with recognizing and nurturing these attributes.
She explained that consistent practice, focus, and discipline are essential for achieving long-term goals. Dr. Salaria motivated students to set clear and realistic career objectives, reminding them that progress is a gradual process. Her energetic session inspired students to stay motivated and trust in their capabilities.
Dr. Irshad Sofi Discusses Career Planning
Dr. Irshad Sofi, another counselor from Arni University, provided guidance on career planning and mental preparedness. He encouraged students to view fear as a barrier that should not deter them from exploring new challenges.
Dr. Sofi emphasized that mistakes are vital learning experiences and should be regarded as lessons rather than failures. He advocated for positivity, discipline, and consistency in both academic and personal pursuits, boosting students' morale and encouraging them to confront future challenges with confidence.
TNR's Commitment to Social Outreach
Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor of the organization, stated that the initiative aims to help students identify their strengths, explore unconventional career paths, and make informed decisions at the right time. “Udaan is about empowering youth to recognize their potential and understand that success today requires awareness, adaptability, and confidence,” he remarked.
Since its inception in 2022, the organization has blended research-based journalism with community initiatives, including the TNR-Shining Star Awards, which honor outstanding students, and the Spring Carnival in Dharamshala to promote tourism and local culture.
With Udaan, the organization has introduced structured career guidance and youth motivation to its social initiatives, with plans to extend similar programs to other districts, assisting students across Himachal Pradesh in discovering direction, confidence, and purpose in their career journeys.
