In celebration of International Youth Day, Government Arya Degree College in Nurpur hosted an informative lecture themed “Youth Against Drugs”. This initiative was a collaborative effort involving the NSS, Anti-Drug Committee, and Red Ribbon Club, with the guidance of College Principal Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur.
The event aimed to enlighten students about the detrimental impacts of drug abuse and to motivate them towards maintaining a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
During the discussion, Mr. Anil from Manav Seva Trust addressed the audience about the extensive physical, mental, social, and economic repercussions of drug addiction. He stressed that the youth represent the nation's greatest asset, and by avoiding drugs, they can significantly contribute to the country's development.
Students were urged to reject drug use, raise awareness among their peers, and advocate for a drug-free community. The speakers encouraged participation in sports, education, creative pursuits, and community service as constructive alternatives.
Additionally, the Red Ribbon Club hosted a slogan-writing contest, where students expressed their creativity through impactful slogans focused on HIV/AIDS awareness, healthy living, drug-free lifestyles, social responsibility, and empowering youth.
The event concluded with students pledging to promote health and social awareness while embracing their responsibilities as conscientious citizens. The success of the program was largely attributed to the efforts of the NSS, Anti-Drug Committee, and Red Ribbon Club members.
