In a lively display of strength, discipline, and growing confidence among young girls, PM Shri School Ghasanu in the Balh block of Mandi district became a center for sporting excellence by hosting the Khelo India Asmita Women League Silambam Championship.

Approximately 100 girls from various regions participated in this traditional martial arts competition, demonstrating impressive agility, focus, and determination. The rhythmic clash of sticks and their synchronized movements not only showcased their skills but also reflected a burgeoning spirit of self-reliance among the competitors.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Anupama Singh, the former Vice-Chancellor of Sardar Patel University, Mandi, who praised the initiative for promoting indigenous sports like Silambam. She highlighted the importance of such platforms in fostering both physical fitness and mental resilience in young girls.

The championship was overseen by technical officials from the Sports Authority of India, with Mangilal Salvi acting as the referee, while Rekha Prajapat and Damini Singh served as jury members, ensuring fair play and professionalism throughout the event.

The atmosphere was electric as participants competed in various categories, earning applause from spectators and fellow athletes alike. Every participant received medals, celebrating not only their victories but also their bravery in stepping up to compete.

Organizers Santosh Sharma, the association's President, and Treasurer Amar Chand warmly welcomed guests and expressed their gratitude to all involved for contributing to the event's success.

During her address, Prof. Singh advocated for the inclusion of self-defense training in school and college programs. She stated, “Equipping girls with self-defense skills is no longer optional—it is vital. It fosters confidence and prepares them to confront challenges directly.”
