On April 24, 2026, a meeting was convened at the Forest Rest House in Holi, located in the Bharmour subdivision, to discuss the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra. The session was led by Vikas Sharma, the Additional District Magistrate of Bharmour.


During the meeting, Van Dhan Surveyors Manorama Devi and Sanjay Kumar elaborated on the Van Dhan Vikas Yojana, a pivotal program designed to empower tribal populations by enhancing the value of minor forest products and fostering self-sufficiency. This initiative aims to merge traditional practices with contemporary technology for the processing and packaging of fruits, spices, and medicinal plants, ultimately boosting the income of tribal communities.


They highlighted that each center or cluster comprises 15 self-help groups, which connect tribal gatherers. The scheme facilitates the primary processing and value addition of minor forest products to ensure improved financial returns for items sourced from forests.


The meeting saw participation from 26 members, including the committee leader. In-depth discussions took place regarding the ongoing activities under the Van Dhan Vikas Kendra. Members unanimously suggested the creation of a center in Holi to optimize the collection of various products and associated activities.


Representatives from the Forest Department and the Block Development Officer were also present at the meeting.
