Emerging Talents in IPL 2026: Potential Call-Ups for Team India
Team India Update
Team India: With 30 matches already played in IPL 2026, the tournament is rapidly approaching its conclusion. Following IPL 2026, the Indian cricket team is set to face Afghanistan, Ireland, and England. The schedule for the Indian team is expected to be quite packed, which may lead to opportunities for several young players based on their performances in the IPL.
Several young Indian talents have been making headlines during IPL 2026. Among them, four players are likely to receive a call-up to Team India after the tournament, potentially making their international debuts.
Five Players Who May Get a Call-Up to Team India
According to a report, selectors are closely monitoring fast bowlers and spinners who have excelled in domestic cricket, with the possibility of introducing new players in the Test match against Afghanistan. Five names have emerged, four of whom are uncapped. All five players are currently part of IPL 2026. Gurnoor Barar, a bowler from Gujarat Titans, and left-arm spinner Manav Suthar have notably impressed the selectors, although neither has had the chance to play a match yet in this IPL.
Both have been part of the 'India A' team, and if there are openings due to workload management, they could be included in the plans alongside Devdutt Padikkal from Royal Challengers Bangalore, Aakib Nabi from Delhi Capitals, and Harsh Dubey from Sunrisers Hyderabad.
BCCI's Stance
Sources indicate that the selection committee is known for its cautious approach. It is no secret that Gurnoor and Manav have made a significant impression, along with Harsh, Aakib, and Devdutt. The final decisions will depend on discussions between the think tank and the medical team, as effective resource management is crucial.Except for Padikkal, the other four players are eagerly awaiting their chance to debut for Team India. Padikkal made his international debut in a T20 match against Sri Lanka in 2021 and later played a Test against England in 2024. However, since his debut, he has only participated in two Tests and two T20 matches for India, meaning he has been out of the team since 2024.
