Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a 21-year-old cricketer, has expressed admiration for India's Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, particularly noting his batting style and temperament. Raghuvanshi regards Gill as one of the top players globally.
Gill, who debuted internationally for India in January 2019, has accumulated an impressive total of 6,665 runs in 137 matches and 170 innings across all formats. His batting average stands at 44.43, complemented by 19 centuries and 28 half-centuries.
Raghuvanshi aims to emulate Gill's composure and relentless drive for runs, hoping to enhance his own performance.
IPL Debut and Gautam Gambhir's Guidance
Raghuvanshi made a notable entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2024, scoring 54 runs off 27 balls against the Delhi Capitals. Under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir, KKR secured their third IPL title that season.
When asked about Gambhir's initial advice, Raghuvanshi shared, "He encouraged me to work hard, emphasizing that we would win this season."
Reflecting on Gambhir's intensity, Raghuvanshi stated, "His focus on winning was evident, and it motivated us to improve as players, ultimately leading to our victory."
Life in the KKR Dressing Room
Raghuvanshi revealed that Ramandeep Singh serves as the unofficial DJ in the KKR camp, playing the best music. "I don't think they will trust me with that role just yet," he joked.
He also shared his aspirations for the future, stating, "While I can't predict where I'll be in ten years, my dream is to win trophies for India."
A Promising Career Ahead
During the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, Raghuvanshi emerged as India's top run-scorer, amassing 278 runs in six matches.
In his IPL debut season with KKR, he scored 163 runs in 10 matches, contributing to the team's title win. The following year, he showcased further growth, accumulating 300 runs in 12 matches. KKR retained him for the 2026 season at a price of Rs 3 crore.
