An Air India Express flight en route to Thiruvananthapuram was compelled to make an emergency landing at Mangalore International Airport after a passenger experienced a sudden health issue mid-flight. Officials reported this incident on Tuesday.

The flight, designated IX 522, which was scheduled to fly directly to Thiruvananthapuram, alerted the airport's operations control center late Monday night, indicating that immediate medical assistance was required for a passenger approximately 35 years old.

In response, airport authorities swiftly activated emergency protocols, coordinating with medical teams, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and immigration and customs departments to ensure a prompt response.

Upon landing, medical personnel boarded the aircraft to assess the passenger's condition and arranged for their immediate transfer to a local hospital. Relatives accompanying the passenger also disembarked to provide support.

According to airport sources, timely medical assistance from the crew helped stabilize the passenger before disembarkation. After the situation was under control, the flight departed for Thiruvananthapuram at 2:05 AM.
