Emergency Response at IGI Airport

On Saturday, a full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi due to concerns over an engine malfunction in an Indigo flight arriving from Visakhapatnam. In addition to the emergency declaration, runway 28 was placed on high alert, prompting airport officials to activate emergency protocols immediately. Fortunately, the flight, carrying 161 passengers, landed safely around 11 AM, and all individuals were evacuated without incident.


Details of the Incident

According to recent reports, the alert for the emergency landing was received at 10:53 AM, leading to all agencies being put on standby, with fire trucks dispatched to the scene. An Indigo spokesperson stated that a technical issue was detected just before landing, necessitating a priority landing. The spokesperson emphasized that, as a precautionary measure and in accordance with standard operating procedures, the pilots requested a priority landing, which was successfully executed at Delhi's IGI Airport.


Previous Incident Involving Air India Express

Earlier this month, an Air India Express flight from Hyderabad to Phuket experienced a hard landing, resulting in the front wheels breaking. The aircraft remained stranded on the runway at Phuket Airport for several hours, temporarily halting airport operations.
