Effective Home Remedies for Joint Pain Relief
Understanding Joint Pain
If you are experiencing joint pain, it is essential not to dismiss it as merely a sign of aging or calcium deficiency. According to Ayurveda and the teachings of Shri Rajiv Dixit, the primary cause of joint pain is an increase in the 'Vata' dosha within your body.
Why Painkillers Aren't Enough
Pain relief medications may temporarily mask the sensation of pain, but they do not address the underlying issue. The real solution lies in natural remedies that can be found in your kitchen.
Root Causes of Joint Pain
Increased Vata Dosha: Ayurveda attributes over 80 ailments to an imbalance in Vata. When the air element (Vata) rises in the body, it can dry up the lubrication in the joints, leading to pain and stiffness.
Poor Diet: Consuming refined oils, sugar, white flour, and processed foods can rapidly elevate Vata levels in the body.
Lifestyle Factors: An irregular daily routine and lack of physical activity are significant contributors to this issue.
Simple Home Remedies for Relief
Fenugreek Seeds: Fenugreek is one of the best remedies for controlling Vata. Soak a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water overnight, and chew the seeds on an empty stomach in the morning, followed by drinking the water.
Edible Lime: Mix a small amount of edible lime (the kind used in betel leaves) with yogurt, lentils, or sugarcane juice and consume it once a day. This is an excellent source of calcium and helps balance Vata. (Note: Those with kidney stones should avoid this remedy.)
Choosing the Right Oil: Instead of refined oils, opt for cold-pressed oils like mustard, sesame, or peanut oil in your cooking. These oils help maintain moisture in the joints.
Harsingar (Parijat): Boil 4-5 leaves of Harsingar in a glass of water until it reduces by half. Cool it down and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning. This is a remarkable remedy for arthritis.
