Enhancing CBSE Payment Systems

On Tuesday, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan engaged in extensive discussions with senior officials from four public sector banks to enhance the payment system of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Representatives from the State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank participated in this meeting. This initiative comes in response to concerns raised by students regarding payment and technical issues following the announcement of CBSE results and during the re-evaluation processes.

Need for a Student-Friendly Digital Payment System

The minister emphasized the necessity for a robust, reliable, and student-friendly digital payment system, particularly for post-examination services such as re-evaluation, obtaining photocopies of answer sheets, and other fee-based processes. He instructed the banks to assist CBSE in establishing strong payment protocols to ensure timely transactions, immediate resolution of payment-related issues, and automatic refunds in cases of overpayments or failed transactions.

Collaboration for Enhanced Security and Efficiency

According to the statement, banks were urged to collaborate with CBSE to strengthen the payment gateway infrastructure through advanced technical security measures, real-time monitoring, and a swift complaint resolution mechanism. Pradhan called on senior officials to prioritize this initiative to prevent students from facing technical issues or payment failures in the future. He urged the banks to ensure smooth, secure, and efficient digital transactions.

Commitment from Banks

The four banks assured full cooperation and expressed their commitment to implementing advanced protocols and technical upgrades in coordination with CBSE as soon as possible. The statement also noted that on May 24, Pradhan had discussions with the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding payment and technical issues faced by students after the announcement of CBSE results and during re-evaluation processes.
