Minister's Strong Remarks on NEET Changes

The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has launched a fierce attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while outlining significant changes planned for the NEET examination amidst the ongoing paper leak controversy. In a recent interview, Pradhan indicated that NEET might transition to a computer-based format starting next year. He pledged strict action against the so-called "paper mafia" and accused Gandhi of instilling fear among students for political gain. Pradhan acknowledged that as the leader of the opposition, Gandhi has the right to ask questions, but he should not create unnecessary panic among students. He also discussed the need for examination reforms, addressing student concerns, and the protests occurring.

Protests at Jantar Mantar

Referring to groups protesting at Jantar Mantar, Pradhan stated, "Those who wish to fragment the nation are the same individuals drumming at Jantar Mantar today. Are there any students present there?" The Cockroach People's Party (CJP) has been demonstrating for several days at Jantar Mantar, demanding Pradhan's resignation over the paper leak and examination irregularities. The minister faced severe criticism regarding a student from Nagpur whose exam center was allocated in Abu Dhabi. Pradhan asserted that the student had selected Abu Dhabi through the portal, a choice that was recorded multiple times. He mentioned that the NTA later contacted the family and offered the student a chance to take the exam in Nagpur. Despite this clarification, he noted that Rahul Gandhi publicly raised the issue, and even after everything was clarified, Gandhi posted a lengthy message about it. Pradhan stated that if Gandhi possesses any sense of morality and accountability, he should apologize to the nation.

Allegations Against Gandhi

Pradhan further accused Gandhi of waiting for a controversy to arise, suggesting that he was eager for any issues with NEET to exploit politically. He remarked that the situation escalated when a political rally by Gandhi's party in Karnataka caused a commotion. Some of their leaders irresponsibly questioned why students did not protest earlier. This comment referred to the Congress rally held on June 21, coinciding with the NEET re-test. Pradhan questioned whether they lacked the foresight to hold the rally elsewhere, emphasizing the necessity of the location. He also accused Gandhi of lacking trust in both institutions and the youth.
